Acne is affecting people at most during adolescence, over 85% of teenagers, & frequently continues in to adulthood gets affected by acne. An increase of male sex hormones (which both genders produce during puberty) is usually the cause of the acne being so common in the adolescence, For most people, acne diminishes over time & tends to disappear—or at the very least decrease—after eight reaches one's early twenties. there is, however, no way to predict how long it will take to disappear entirely, & some individuals will over this condition well in to their thirties, forties & beyond.

Acne vulgaris (usually called acne) is a usual skin condition, the cause of acne is changes in the pilosebaceous units, skin structures consisting of a hair follicle & its associated sebaceous gland by androgen stimulation. it is characterized by noninflammatory follicular papules or comedones & by inflammatory papules, pustules, & nodules in its more severe forms. Acne vulgaris affects the areas of skin with the densest population of sebaceous follicles; these areas include the face, the upper part of the chest, & the back. Severe acne is inflammatory, but acne can also manifest in noninflammatory forms. Acne lesions are commonly referred to as pimples, blemishes, spots, zits, or acne.

The face & upper neck are the most commonly affected, but the chest, back & shoulders may have acne as well. The upper arms can also have acne, but lesions found there's often keratosis pilaris, not acne. Typical acne lesions are comedones, inflammatory papules, pustules & nodules. a quantity of the large nodules were previously called "cysts" & the term nodulocystic has been used to explain severe cases of inflammatory acne.

Aside from scarring, its main effects are psychological, such as reduced self-esteem &, according to at least eight study, depression or suicide. Acne usually appears during adolescence, when people already tend to be most socially insecure. Early & aggressive treatment is therefore advocated by some to lessen the overall impact to individuals.
